HOW TO ENTER
1. DOWNLOAD THE SONG "Human Nature" HERE (.wav format)
2. Create a visual accompaniment using the song as the soundtrack
3. Fill out this ENTRY FORM (.doc or .pdf) and upload it with your video OR email it to contest@violentkin.com OR mail it with your DVD submission
4. UPLOAD YOUR VIDEO HERE (up to 2GB) OR mail your DVD submission to: Violent Kin Music Video Contest, SaskMusic, 404 33rd St. W, Saskatoon, SK S7L 0V6. Must arrive no later than July 14. Make sure to write your name & email address on the DVD!
HOW TO VOTE
We will post all submissions on the official Violent Kin Facebook page by July 18 for public vote via Facebook "likes". The video with the most "likes" on the Violent Kin Facebook page will be the grand prize winner. Voting closes July 28 and the winning videos will be announced on July 29th. Winners will be posted on the Saskatoon Star Phoenix website.
RULES & REGULATIONS
Entrant must be a resident of Canada and must be 18 years or under (as of July 14, 2011). Entrant will always be given full credit for their work where applicable, but all video submissions and all rights associated with the video submissions become the sole property of Violent Kin. The entrant must have the rights to use any material contained in the video and the video may not contain any copyright protected material. Any videos containing inappropriate material will be discarded and disqualified from the contest. Collaborations are allowed as long as each participant meets the age and residence requirements, however it will be up to the collaborating individuals to decide how the prize will be split. Any entrant may enter more than one video submission, however multiple uploads of the same or very similar videos from one entrant will be discarded. In the event of a tie, the winner will be chosen by Violent Kin. Although the prize winners are decided by public vote, Violent Kin reserves the right to use any video as seen fit and does not guarantee any further use of the prize winning videos beyond the contest. Entrant's personal information such as mailing address and e-mail address will not be shared with any third-parties.
VIDEO TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Please do not overlay the title/artist/credits in your video. Submit your video in high resolution if possible (1920x1080 HD is ideal, but not mandatory). Any file format is acceptable, but if you have a choice, H.264 / .mp4 (also known as Mpeg-4 Part 10 or Mpeg-4/Advanced Video Coding) is ideal for its high quality and relatively small file size. Try to avoid over-compressing the video. If you're seeing blotchy pixels and artifacts in the video, it's probably over-compressed. If submitting a hard copy via mail (Violent Kin Music Video Contest, SaskMusic, 404 33rd St. W, Saskatoon, SK S7L 0V6), you may simply put your video file on a DVD/CD, or you may submit a playable DVD. If you shoot on any other format, such as Super8, VHS, Beta, Film, DV or MiniDV, please transfer to a file or DVD. The maximum file size for uploading is 2GB.
SUGGESTIONS
Be innovative and original. It doesn't always take a high quality camera to make a great video.
